Walcot RFC is Bath's top amateur rugby club offering excellence in senior, junior and mini rugby, playing facilities and social amenities, inexpensive sponsorship opportunities, corporate facilities and clubhouse and grounds hire.
It was founded in 1882 and has since enjoyed over 100 hundred years of quality rugby. The wide-open spaces of our two Lansdown pitches promote an expansive, fast-paced game based on teamwork, flair, power, skill, pace and determination. Yet, on rainy, windswept days, or at the postage-stamp sized quagmires of some of our opposition, we can effortlessly revert to a tighter game.
Walcot play in South West 2 (East) league which spans from Buckinghamshire to Somerset. In the 2006/07 season, we won Southern Counties (South), only losing one game and amassing over 1000 points on the way.
We had three successful cup runs in 2001/02, having reached the quarter final of the Powergen Intermediate Cup, the final of the Somerset Cup, and the final of the local Bath Combination Cup. In the 2000/01 season we accomplished the first league championship in the club's history - and a record-breaking 22 wins out of 22 in the league.
Although it is the 1st XV that often carries the flag for Walcot Rugby, the club's strength comes from a successful 2nd and 3rd team, and an active mini and youth department. In 2006/07, the 2nd XV were runners up in Somerset 2 (North) and the 3rd XV won Somerset 3 (North).
Walcot combines successful rugby on the field with a friendly and active social and family environment. From a few drinks after the game with fellow players, friends and family, to the more formal occasions of New Year's or Summer Balls or Annual Club Dinners, there is always something going on to suit most tastes.
To find out more about what has made Walcot Rugby the highest-ranking amateur club in Bath, together with an active family and social club, call in on a Saturday afternoon, or Tuesday or Thursday training night (7pm start) or email Walcot Rugby.
